Labor Day is behind us, the Kids are back in School, and next comes Election Season!
NOVEMBER 3 WILL BE A RED-LETTER DAY
FOR OREGON WORKERS
So much is at stake for our workers and their families in the upcoming General Election! We need all our eligible voters to make our voices heard.
How can you do this? BEFORE OCTOBER 13, 2026, check that your voter registration is current.
It’s easy. Go here: https://vote.gov/register/oregon and make sure you’re good to go! A ballot will be sent to you so you can make a difference in Election 2026.
NW Oregon Labor Council URGES A ‘NO’ VOTE on Measure 26-267!
This measure would move more than $16 million EVERY year out of the city budget, effectively cutting services such as firefighting, 911, parks, shelter beds, Portland Street Response, and other essential services. This is a 2% jobs cut every year for your union siblings who work for the city. PLEASE VOTE NO!

A WORD ABOUT RANK-CHOICE VOTING
Your ballot this year will have several types of voting systems in several areas. Especially in Multnomah County and the City of Portland, two different types of “rank-choice” voting – one for City Council candidates and a second, different one, for Multnomah County candidates – will be yours to navigate.
It’s important to remember that just ONE VOTE per voter will ever get “counted”, no matter how many names you rank. NOLC advises you to be strategic by voting for no more than two candidates in the Portland City Council races and no more than one candidate for Multnomah County races. Why? Because concentrating our vote on our champions gives them the maximum chance of winning.

We would be remiss if we didn’t lift up our 2026 Labor Champion award winner, Rep. Dacia Grayber, in HD 28, who was one of those candidates who the State Federation has early endorsed.
Election officials are urging voters to use official drop boxes, rather than the mail, to return their ballots due to changes in Post Office mail handling. Be sure your vote is counted by voting as soon as you get your ballot and getting it returned as soon as possible!
